Printer and Print Preview stopped working

Any help out there would be greatly appreciated... I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on an HP Pavilion Slimline s5260f. I have had a Canon Pixma MP620 connected wirelessly to my desktop for many months. As far as I can tell after a round of updates on 04/27/2011 it suddenly stopped working. It shows as my default printer and I can print photos as well as any test pages through Canon's software but I cannot print anything else from any other program. For example in Foxit when I go to print a pdf I get a "The system does not support the command requested" error and then the box comes up to choose a printer and in the print preview section there is no document only a couple of strange symbols. When I continue I get an error "The handle is invalid". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer several times trying, both wired and wireless connections. I have stopped and started Print Spooling and I have even gone as far as to uninstall the updates from 04/27/2011. I am at a complete loss. My Canon drivers are correct and the computer is obviously communicating with the printer but won't allow any program to print. Thanks.
