is hard disk broken or controller i have asus motherboard, chipset mcp 430,i have two hard drives, sata (wd 6400 aaks) and ide disk wd 800bb 80 gb.my primary master is sata disk, secundary is dvd cd rw,and i used to have my ide wd 80 gb on cable select and it worked fine....now i can see my drive in windows 7 x64,but booting taks 10 min approximatly..windows shows ide disk is its in pio mode 4. ,something is wrong when post message takes to long to finnish)When i try to install Windows 7 on wd8800bb and format drive to install win 7 on it computer says there is no controller for drive in question set in bios, and it wont format drive and install win 7.....is there a simple way to exclude hard disk failure(boot post always says is udma 5,smart status ok,so i dont believe its broken)....this problem i to0 hard for me,but i hope it could be resolved,in any way. how to check if its broken.i dont have no one to test hard drive, like frends pc,.is it some sort of my motherboard problem..the ribbon cable is new 80 pin bought in store .

Hello, check that the chipset drivers are all current. Try moving your IDE jumper to Master position.
Please post a snip of your disk management window expanded.
You can download the FREE HD TUNE and give it a run. I have found that every time that I connect or disconnect a drive, that I have to go back into the BIOS and reset everything. Also, your comment about it not find a controller for the drive, makes me wonder if you have it set for SATA or PATA? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DIY OS W7x64 Pro, SuSe 12.1/** W7 x64 Pro, XP MCE CPU Phenom II 1090T w/Noctua NH-D14 /**4400+ X2 w/CM Hyper TX 3 Motherboard ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4/**A8N-SLI Memory 2 x 2GB Patriot PGS34g1600LLKA/**4x1GB Corsair VS Graphics Card EVGA GTX460 SC/**EVGA 8800GTS Sound Card Asus Xonar D2X/**Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays Acer X233H, Dell E152FPc /**LG M237-WD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 & 1024x768/**1980x1080 Keyboard Logitech Media USB/**Saitek Eclipse Mouse Cordless Trackman Wheel/**Ditto PSU CM RS600 w/ APC BX1000G/**Antec 500 TP w/ APC BX1000 Case HAF922/**Antec 1040IIB Cooling 3x200mm, 1x140 and 1x120mm/**5x80mm fans Hard Drives WDC 2TB, 1.5TB, 1TB, 500GB,Seagate 500GB , Maxtor 80GB /**500GB Seagate & WDC 1TB Black Internet Speed 3.3Mbps Other Info SB 560 5.1 w/ Sennheiser RS140/**Creative T20 speakers, Dvico FusionHDTV7 Gold RT, Cisco E3000, HP 5510V AIO, Linksys E3000, Belkin F5U237 hub and **F5D8055 adapter
