Yes, you can use a 9500GT, but why on earth would you? That's a downgrade from your current card, which is already old... the 9500 would be worse.

You can have your pick of any PCI-express card made.

"Affordable" is a relative term. What's your budget?

That card or any PCI-e X16 card will work provide you have the room AND any needed power cables for it.
Do you guys stay up all night?:)

Some random thoughts...if the card was being over-worked, wouldn't the whole system shut down or BSOD? Check the games you play most often and see what the minimum hardware requirements are, sisnce LoL (?) plays.

Any card here would work, limited by your budget and power connectors. Fumz is correct, the 9500 is about 2 steps backwards.

Also consider the possibility that it could be the power supply.

Download and run this: CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
Let it run, play a game for just about 5-10 minutes, then exit, if it crashes do it again the same, see what temps you hit. Post this info back here, with a screenshot.

It could easily be a rail giving out on the psu, good to test this before you spend any money.

You might try the driver reinstall again, First uninstall you current driver, have the new one on your PC ready to install. Use Revo Uninstaller.
