Windows 7 - Expanding RAM memory

Expanding RAM memory

Hi everyone!

my current laptop has 6gb RAM. I've opened it and it has two slots: one has the 4gb RAM board and the 2nd slot has a 2gb RAM board.

I want to change the 2gb RAM board for one of 4gb so my computer gets 8gb RAM memory at the end.

How does this work? What do I need to know? Can I use a RAM board from any manufacturer?

This is the current 4gb RAM board I have (which came with the laptop from factory):
Samsung M471B5273CH0-CH9 DDR3-1333 SODIMM 4GB Original Notebook Memory - Electronic Inventory Online

Here is another pic:

Thanks,
Eric.

As long as the laptop's MB supports 8GB of RAM, then a 4GB RAM module with the same specs as the current 4GB module should work.
However, suggest getting another Samsung module, because precedence indicates that problems can sometimes arise when using RAM modules from different manufacturers.

I agree with Ski it's best not to mix RAM, my suggestion get another stick of identical RAM and just pop it in where the 2GB was. Check with laptop spec if this is allowed though.

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more! & just fill in the specs.

...
Actually, turns out this is the only one with those specs that Newegg has, even same product #, so you know it'll be THE match:

$48 & free shipping. I sincerely hope you haven't purchased that $120 stick yet.

I don't think that newegg ships to portugal

That is the correct RAM, but what is the model number of your laptop? I can't find much information, let alone in english, on your motherboard ID number.

http://www.eio.com/p-28006-corsair-c...op-memory.aspx

From the same website you can get the whole 8GB for less, and corsair is a reputable company.

Oh, hm. ^_^ Sorry, I didn't notice the op was from Portugal. & I just checked out how, yeah, they don't ship internationally. Well, that sucks for the rest of the world. Newegg is awesome!

Also, my 2nd link was incorrect. Fixed now.

After some more research,

VIAddress : The Global Leader in Package Forwarding

Will ship anything to you worldwide while shopping on US online retailers. The rate for a 5 pound box is $36 to Europe, but still worth it for shopping at retailers like newegg.com I think.

If you want my advice, I would not upgrade the RAM. It will buy you nothing - unless you do a lot of CAD. But if you do, get the EXACT SAME Dimm as your current 4GB Dimm.
