Computer Bottleneck- HDD - SSD. giving data speed to proccessing speed Through the windows experience im at 7.8's / 7.4's... with my hdd at 5.9. looking at getting a ssd to level everything up.... but what i dont know is... how does the read/write speeds translate into processing.
what read speed is equal to the rest of my rig? I just dont know how it translates iops/1GB's read/write to GHz proccessing.
The giving data speed to proccessing speed
Phenom x6 @ 2.8
6GB RAM @ 1600

Here is an As SSD for my WD1002FAEX 1TB sata 6GB/s mechanical hard drive
Here is the same test on my Intel 80GB X25 M
For an OS drive the advertised speeds really mean nothing to the average user unless you are going to be transferring large files all day. The most important thing is access time- how long it takes from the time you push the button until the application actually opens. No spinning circles with a good SSD. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Brew - Always under construction OS Windows 7 X64 Professional/Windows 8 CPU intel i7-2600K Motherboard Asus P8Z68 V-Pro/GEN 3 Memory 8GB G.Skill Sniper DDR3-2133 (2X4GB) Graphics Card EVGA 670 2GB Sound Card Asus Xonar Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" LCD VW246H Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Logitech G500/Logitech Wireless PSU CORSAIR HX850W Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Corsair H100 w/ 4 noctua fans in push/pull. ahh nice, how does that work out in your rig.. is your ssd giving you cpu data faster than it can process it or cpu still waiting for data at moments?
would a single core 3GHz cpu be equal to 200MB/s read speed? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom self build OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Phenom II x6 Motherboard GIGABYTE GM880M-UD2H Memory 12GB@1600mhz:ungaged:-2x2GB corsair 1833,2x4GB Kingston 1600 Graphics Card HD 6870 1GB Sound Card OnBoard Monitor(s) Displays Sharp HD LCD TV 26" Screen Resolution 1080p Keyboard DELL - L100 Mouse Logitech wireless PSU ocz 600w Case Ximatec Cooling 4case fans, stock cpu cooler, Corsair ram Airflow. When you push the mouse button to open a program, it is open by the time you release the button- as in instantly. I really don't know the answers to any of the other questions. It does not seem that there is any waiting by anything. As far as a single core, I don't know as I have never tried one. But, my opinion is that whatever type of CPU you have, your performance will increase. I have never talked to anyone who has gone to an SSD that hasn't said it is the biggest improvement in performance that you can do to a computer. You will have increased startup times and apps will open quickly. It won't make your internet speed faster or your CPU faster, but it will allow your cpu to not wait on your hard drive. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Brew - Always under construction OS Windows 7 X64 Professional/Windows 8 CPU intel i7-2600K Motherboard Asus P8Z68 V-Pro/GEN 3 Memory 8GB G.Skill Sniper DDR3-2133 (2X4GB) Graphics Card EVGA 670 2GB Sound Card Asus Xonar Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" LCD VW246H Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Logitech G500/Logitech Wireless PSU CORSAIR HX850W Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Corsair H100 w/ 4 noctua fans in push/pull. The only problem I read the most about from those that want a ssd and those that have a sse is the price. The HDD has been a bottle neck for years and the ssd has went a long way to solve that. I don't have any charts or graphs to show. I do remember the first time I used my ssd all I could hear was; I can't believe how fast things work and that came from me. It was hard for me to part with $300.00 to buy it but after using it I am happy I did. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home made OS windows 7 home premium 64/SP1 CPU Intel i7-960-3.2 @ 4.25 Motherboard ASUS P6X58D-E Memory KINGSTON KHX2000C9, Hyper X,12 GIGS with Corsair cooler Graphics Card MSI/Nvidia/460GTX-Cyclone 1GD5/OC Monitor(s) Displays DYNEX 40 IN. I almost got a Revo drive... Brink just bought one. They're very fast; however, know in advance that the Revo drives do not support Trim. | My System Specs | | OS 7 Ultimate x64 CPU i5-2500k Motherboard Asus P8P67 Pro Memory 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH 1866MHz 8-9-8-24 Graphics Card EVGA GTX 570 SC Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fatality Monitor(s) Displays Samsung S27A550H 27" LED Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard MS Natural Elite 4000 Ergonomic Mouse Logitech G500 PSU PC Power & Cooling Silencer 760 Case Lian Li Lancool K62 Cooling Thermalright Venomous X Black/Scythe S-Flex/Shin-Etsu X23 Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 3 120GB.
