Cannot install latest HP 7310 printer software

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on a home built computer with an AMD Phenom II X4 processor. When I try to install the latest software for my old HP 7310 (AIO CDB Full Win WW 130 141.exe) it starts fine. After accepting the license agreement, the installation starts, the window blinks once, and the program goes back to the license window. Happens everytime. It just loops. I've downloaded the file a number of times. I've tried it with my antivirus program turned off. I've tried running the program as administrator. Nothing works. Any thoughts?

    Hi Ronin51. :)
Follow these guidelines. Although not literally apply to what you report, should help you. Hope that helps. Let us know the results.

No Joy on getting the latest HP software for my HP 7310 to load. After following the instructions; stopping all TSRs, my antivirus/firewall, any none essential programs, and deleting all the current printers and any old HP software, exactly the same thing happened when I tried to install 'AIO CDB Full Win WW 130 141.exe': after accepting the license agreement the install starts, the window blinks, and I'm back to the license window - no error message - the install just loops back.

What really makes this weird is that I can load the HP Vista 64 bit software with one problem. After I connect the USB I get a popup indicating the drivers are loading and the HP window shows that 6 out of 8 files have been loaded and then hangs. But, if I open the driver popup it shows a number of items loaded and ready to use. The setup windows finally indicates that the USB failed to connect. I click next and the installation finishes and indicates the it is complete. The printer works.

Yea, I'm a little confused. This entire exercise is a result of me trying to get access to the HP Solution Center software. I should also point out that the even after installing the Vista 64 bit software there is no HP folder or icon on my desktop, but the 7310 printer is in the devices window and works.

Now, I'd just like to figure out what is going on - can the HP software just be incompatible with my system? If there are other thoughts I'd like to hear them.

Try HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows 7. Please remember to run it as administrator and connect the printer only when directed to do so.
    Hope that helps.

Same result. The HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows 7 just finds the latest software which is 'AIO CDB Full Win WW 130 141.exe' and installs it. But I did notice something I didn't see before (because it happens quickly).

After I accept the agreement and click next, the following window shows that the program is 'checking system', then this changes to 'applying updates'. As soon as 'applying updates' starts and the progress bar completes one or two cycles - the window 'flashes' and I'm back to the previous window. I've tried this a number of times and exactly the same thing happens each time.

Do I just need to go buy a newer printer for Windows 7? Overall this is a minor problem. The printer is working, but this strange behavior bothers me. It makes me wonder if there is some underlying problem. But, as near as I can tell my PC works fine, the applications function, and, as long as I don't load Bluesoleil BT software, the system is stable.

Despite the strange things you reported, you conclude by saying that can use all the features of your printer and the system is stable. So I see no reason for you to worry for now. Anyway, I ask you to update this thread as soon as there is something new to report, right?

I have an older HP printer and it uses the built-in HP driver. The printer works fine bot without a HP "tool box" and a few other options.

You might try completely uninstalling ALL your printer drivers and software, reboot with the printer disconnected. Then try to install your software for it, then plug it in only after it installs, if it will.

A second way is too remove the software, reboot with the printer connected, reboot and see if Windows will install a driver. Many HP printer will work in Win 7 but without some of HP's fancy software.

Thirdly, if the Vista driver works go with it, there is a lot of hardware which will be fine with it.

Thanks for the feedback. I going to stay with your third suggestion. The HP Vista 64 drivers installed and are working fine. As I indicated before, this entire situation was driven by me wanting to have the 'fancy' HP tools. Then it, as often happens, became quest to find out why the latest HP software wouldn't install and just kept looping. I spent a lot of time on a very minor problem. I also don't want to take up any more forum time for a trivial issue. I'll keep poking around, but for now I'll be content that the printer works even without the fancy tools.
    Thanks again for getting back.

You are very welcome. I too put up without the HP tools, but use alternatives.
