Ethernet cord Well recently, my internet has been going off every 5 minutes and needs another bootup to gain it, and then 5 more minutes it disconnects again, eventually I got fed up and reformatted Windows 7(X64). After reformatting it , the internet worked for about 20 minutes and it disconnected again, but after restarting it, it seemed to do nothing. my NCI is integrated. I realized that it could be dead, considering the day before this happened my brother installed a new TV, and when we put in the plug his lights flickered on and off,(Not sure about my room), but when I went back to my room it was like that no internet, and I had to restart but it worked for many hours. The device manager cant detect that theres a network adapter in it, and when I went to driveragent, it showed that my card was Disconnected. Sure it might be dead, but I would just like to know if this would work for my computer. Amazon.com: Plugable USB 2.0 to 10/100 Fast Ethernet LAN Network RJ45 Adapter (ASIX AX88772 chipset): Electronics, According to it all I would need is to install the drivers, and plug in my Rj45 cord and it should work. I already ordered it, but Im still worried that it might not work. Would it? | My System Specs |

Welcome to Windows Sevens Forums.
You might want to check Windows 7's hardware compatibility list here: Windows 7 Compatibility: Software Programs & Hardware Devices: Find Updates, Drivers, & Downloads
If you proposed adapter is incompatible, it'll be flagged up on the list......I hope!
Make sure you've disabled your old adapter though and one other thought - have you given consideration to the possibility that your ISP may be having problems in your area? A phone call to find out won't do any harm. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion Elite 495UK OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz Motherboard MSI 2A9C (CPU1) Memory 8Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1024MB dedicated RAM Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP2310i Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech K750 solar-powered keyboard Mouse Logitech Wireless M180 mouse PSU 460W Case HP Elite Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives 1x1954GB Hitachi HDS22020ALA 330 (RAID), 1x1954GB Hitachi External for backup and storage Internet Speed 2Mb Other Info Pure Avanti Flow Internet Radio with iPod Dock, 64Gb iPod, HP USB Speakers, Sony MDR-V500 Headphones, Sony Vaio F-Series Laptop |

It works with windows 7 according to the amazon link, and I cant find it on the windows 7 hardware devices compatibility. shouldn't the adapter be already disabled? considering its disconnected and I cant find the network adapter, and its not the ISP, I tried it with my brothers Rj45 doesnt work, but on his computer it works. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

Just another question, should I attempt to disable it? I mean its not even on Device manager listed as a network adapter, and on driver agent it said its a disconnected device. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

If Device Manager doesn't see it and Driver Agent says it's disconnected then it's safe to say it has been well and truly disabled. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion Elite 495UK OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz Motherboard MSI 2A9C (CPU1) Memory 8Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1024MB dedicated RAM Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP2310i Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech K750 solar-powered keyboard Mouse Logitech Wireless M180 mouse PSU 460W Case HP Elite Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives 1x1954GB Hitachi HDS22020ALA 330 (RAID), 1x1954GB Hitachi External for backup and storage Internet Speed 2Mb Other Info Pure Avanti Flow Internet Radio with iPod Dock, 64Gb iPod, HP USB Speakers, Sony MDR-V500 Headphones, Sony Vaio F-Series Laptop |
