Windows 7: HP dv9904ca remote and quick launch problems

I've recently reformatted and installed Windows 7 ultimate 64bit on my hp dv9904 laptop. Everything is working fine except for the remote and quick launch buttons at the top of the keyboard.



I've seen quite a few threads on the subject but none of them have worked out for me.

everything in device manager says its working fine but niether the remote nor the quick launch buttons do anything

Any thoughts?

Should I uninstall the drivers for both and start over?

Yes I would reinstall both drivers and restart. If that doesn't work contact HP on their website and see the troubleshooting page. If there is nothing there see if there is an update for your quicklaunch buttons and remote on the HP website that Windows could not find. Hope this helps.
