Open Windows Explorer and right-click the icon for your CD/DVD driver then click Eject. The tray should then open.

If it doesn't, can you hear the tray motor running?

If you can, but you can't eject the tray either by the method I suggested or by inserting a piece of wire in the pinhole at the front of the DVD drive, you need to open up your computer and check the cabling is connected OK.

As a last resort you may be faced with replacing the drive.

It looks as though either the drive is not connected, needs drivers or is faulty.

If you look in the left pane of his screen shoot you'll see that there is no optical drive shown under Computer.

compnovice open explorer then go to tools, folder options, view tab and check that "Hide empty drives in Computer folder" isn't checked. Also open device manager and see if your optical drive is listed under DVD/CD-ROM drives. If it is see if any problems are noted. If its not shown you may want to open your case and check its cables to make sure its still connected OK.
