Only additional thing I can think of is to check the pnp settings in the bios.
It also would not hurt to go to the power options in control panel
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings
expand usb settings and make sure usb power suspend is disabled. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Insane hobo technologies. ;-) OS Windows 7 x64 sp1 CPU Intel i7 2600k Motherboard Asrock z68 extreme 4 gen 3 Memory G.skill Ripjaw 16gigs @ 1866 Graphics Card Nvidia gtx580 (evga) Sound Card Integrated HD audio + hdmi Monitor(s) Displays 24" ASUS widescreen + 42" insignia Screen Resolution 1080p (1920x1080) Keyboard Microsoft wireless 3000 (v2) Mouse MS - wireless 5000 (bluetrack) PSU 1 kilowatt SLI/Crossfire rated Silverstone modular Case NZXT Phantom + additional 220 fan Cooling Air. Try plugging a USB thumb drive into a slot during the keyboard problem. See if Windows will recognize the thumb drive or if it's ignored and/or the keyboard comes back. Some motherboards have a problem with sleep states and as Maguscreed says, your power saving settings may be set too aggressive.
Keyboards draw next to nothing in power so it's not likely it's heating up and failing. It's most likely the power settings. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Built 2/11/2011 OS Windows 7 Pro-x64 CPU i7-2600 3.4GHz - 3.8GHz Turbo Motherboard Intel DH67BL-B3 Memory 8Gb - 2x4GB, Muskin 991770 PC3-1333 Graphics Card Integrated Intel HD 2000 Sound Card Integrated Intel 10.1 HD, RealTek ALC892 Monitor(s) Displays Asus LCD VH222H, Haier HL24XSL2a Screen Resolution 1920x1080, 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech EX100 Wireless Mouse Logitech EX100 Wireless PSU Seasonic 650W 80+ Gold Modular Case Rosewill Defender Cooling Stock CPU, Four 120mm case fans, PCH fan added Hard Drives Crucial C300-128Gb,

I honestly don't even know why they bother with trying to manage usb power since it's dealing with about the same amount of power as a couple of 'aa' batteries to begin with. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Insane hobo technologies. ;-) OS Windows 7 x64 sp1 CPU Intel i7 2600k Motherboard Asrock z68 extreme 4 gen 3 Memory G.skill Ripjaw 16gigs @ 1866 Graphics Card Nvidia gtx580 (evga) Sound Card Integrated HD audio + hdmi Monitor(s) Displays 24" ASUS widescreen + 42" insignia Screen Resolution 1080p (1920x1080) Keyboard Microsoft wireless 3000 (v2) Mouse MS - wireless 5000 (bluetrack) PSU 1 kilowatt SLI/Crossfire rated Silverstone modular Case NZXT Phantom + additional 220 fan Cooling Air. Right, I second Maguscreed's suggestions. It may be a power problem.
Also, just how many USB devices do you have plugged in? Sometimes you can have just too many external devices like USB drives, keyboard/mouse, external hard drives, etc, and tax your power supply beyond its limits. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Myself OS Win7 Ultimate x64, Server 2008 R2 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD5 Memory 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Series DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Graphics Card 2x HIS/Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5830 in CrossfireX Sound Card Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2407WFP 24", Dell 22" Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Keyboard SteelSeries MercStealth Mouse Razer Lachesis PSU CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-750HX 750W Case Antec Nine Hundred Cooling Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU cooler Hard Drives Patriot Torqx 128GB SSD

Keyboard not recognised occasionally I have a similar problem occasionally after start up. The keyboard does not work & device manager does not show any keyboard is present. On previous occasions I could fix it by restoring computer to a week earlier, and then right clicking on Human Interface Devices in Device Manager and making it search for the keyboard. When it showed up I updated the driver software.
Today, none of this worked but when I logged off and went to a different user, it worked! Then back to the original user and it worked again.
