Window 7 64 bit Hardware reserved memory

ok heres my issue, and yes ive googled and read through all the posts I could find and nothing has helped.

I just rebuilt my computer, new motherboard and such and it has 6 GB of ram installed but it is only using 2 GB and has 4 GB hardware reserved.

I have went and set the bios settings to memory remapping, I have tried reinstalling windows, I've tried unchecking the msconfig max memory, reseating the ram, and resetting the bios.

In the Systems window it reads that there is Total 6 GB Memory and only 2 GB usable, and in the Bios in the System information it also reads only 2 GB usable memory. The ram sticks arnt new, I took them form my old computer when I did the rebuilt, which are 3 Elipida 2GB 1333 MHz sticks

The motherboard is a Maximus III Gene with bios version 2103
OS is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

On the basis there may be compatibility issues between your motherboard, RAM and BIOS, have you considered contacting ASUS for support?

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download Maximus III Gene

well just called Asus, apparently their busy and couldnt get any help =/ and if it was a compatibility issue wouldnt the motherboard not recognize any of the stick? and same with windows

EDIT:
Ok... well I just tried to move the ram around to see if the RAM configuration would make a difference, and now my computer only turns on and doesnt do anything else... im guessing this means theres something wrong with my ram

In that case, take all your RAM sticks out, and then try one stick at a time in each socket.

A bit time consuming, but it might just isolate whether it's your RAM or your motherboard at fault here.

BTW, I forgot to welcome you to Windows Seven Forums, I'll do that now.

thanks =3 wish the welcome was on better circumstances >.> yeah I just tried that, no change, none of my peripherals turn on now when I turn on my comp, and when I run with 0 ram I get beeps, tried pulling out the cpu and the comp doesnt even power up the fans, so im guessing the motherboard was half fried when it arrived, guess that might explain a few things.

You say it's a new motherboard. Can you replace it under warranty?

Had the same issue: MB: Asus P7P55D-ELX
8GB(4x2GB)installed, Bios and Win7_64 shows only 4GB, 4GB hardware reserved
Finally got it to work with 8GB:
What I did:
Power off
Clear CMOS: Short CLRT, short pin2,3:, (Not just reload defaults in BIOS), and back to Normal: short Pin1,2
Press MemOK
Power on
Delete
Now BIOS/Main/System Info: Usable Size: 8191MB (and Win7_64 reports 8GB)
Note: unless Bios shows correct size, Win wont see it.(even though CPU-Z will report it)
