Problem detecting 2.5" external SSD harddrive

This is part of an ongoing problem for me.

After having no success doing it manually, I have decided to purchase this program
Paragon Migrate to help me move everything onto my shiny new SSD...

Now my problem is that my Win7 Laptop will not recognise the SSD (I have it plugged into an external enclosure). Very strange as I can access it perfectly fine from my old Win XP machine upstairs..

Question being - Is there a reason that windows 7 won't recognise this drive? and what can I do to solve the problem?

It's a pain in the ass because I thought that buying that software would be the end to my ongoing upgrade issues.

    Thanks in advance.

Not when attached to a USB port (none of my external drives will) but it does when physically inside the laptop
