Windows 7 - Help configuring Deskjet 6988 wireless printer to Windows 7

hi, could somone please help? I ddnt know weate to post this question in networking or hardware but, I do think it is a networking issue. the details area follows:

Windows 7 on mini laptop
deskjet 6988 wireless printer
Driver downloaded and installed
Printer works wired
Printer connected to access point
HPsetup showing in network so the computer sees the printer
Windows says network nidenrtifiedfor hpsetup.
Printer does not print wireless

I dont understand. The printer is showing up as a network but not printing. in networking it does say network unidentified and also it will not allow me to change network from public to home.
