Mouse acceleration turned off only for the mouse, not the touch pad Sorry for the long tittle.
Is it possible to turn the mouse acceleration on only when using the touchpad on my laptop and off when I'm using the mouse? I usually don't use the touchpad when the mouse is plugged in if that's any help. If nothing else, maybe a driver will do the trick?

The computer treats touch pads as mice in most instances.
I used to know how to create a shortcut that would toggle it, apparently that command no longer works in win 7. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Insane hobo technologies. ;-) OS Windows 7 x64 CPU Intel i7 2600k Motherboard Asrock z68 extreme 4 gen 3 Memory G.skill Ripjaw 16gigs @ 1866 Graphics Card Nvidia gtx580 (evga) Sound Card Integrated HD audio + hdmi Monitor(s) Displays 24" ASUS widescreen + 42" insignia Screen Resolution 1080p (1920x1080) Keyboard Microsoft wireless 3000 (v2) Mouse MS - wireless 5000 (bluetrack) PSU 1 kilowatt SLI/Crossfire rated Silverstone modular Case NZXT Phantom + additional 220 fan Cooling Zalmann Hard Drives 128 Samsung 830

I have an older (2007) Dell Vostro 1000 which has a listing in the Windows control Panel only for the touch pad. If not check the Dell site for your model for an application for it. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |

Yes, I have the Dell drivers for the touch pad and they let me change a lot of stuff specifically for the touch pad, but not the acceleration. I'll try to find some info on a toggle shortcut, as you mentioned Maguscreed.
Thanks for the answers guys. I'm still waiting to see if someone can think of something.

I was just repairing a Compaq laptop for a friend and in Control Panel/Mouse there were separate tabs to adjust the mouse and touch pad. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |

I also have a tab just for the touchpad. But the problem is that there isn't acceleration option in the touchpad tab | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Vostro 1700 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Core2Duo T9300 @2.5 GHz, 6 MB L2 cache Motherboard Dell Memory 2x2048 DDR2 800 MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB DDR2 Screen Resolution 1440x900 Hard Drives Samsung 470 Series 128GB SSD;

Well the only thing I can think of is that the option isn't available for acceleration for the touch pad.
It is on my old Dell laptop. Maybe manufacturers have decided its not needed now. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |
