    Extra Internal HD.... can I....

I have installed a 2gig HD in my HP Pavilian PC.

What I want to do is this......

Install Windows 7 on it. Can I do that? I made restor disks. Will the restor disks load Win 7 on the extra hard drive?

Also, what problems, if any, will I encounter with the "C Drive's" registry by installing?

If it is ok to do this, whenever I might add a program I would just need to make sure the installer installs whatever I am installing to go to the new Win 7 HD, correct?

    Thanks in advance,

    Rich

What do you plan to do with the old hard drive??

Why did you install the new hard drive?

I installed the new hard drive because of the storage it gives me. The original hard drive (C Drive) is still in the machine. Both HD's are SATA drives so there is no need for the "Master/Slave" thing.

    Thanks for responding.....

A what sized drive? I would leave W7 on the existing drive and use the new one for storage.

The drive size is 2 gig, 5400rpm.... (yea, I know, I should have sprung for the 7200 drive)

Storage is what I was thinking when I installed it but then I got to thinking that if there was an operating system on the drive I could install some tech stuff to analyze the C drive by booting into that drive and repairing it if need be.

    Thanks for the reply.........

I'm guessing you mean 2 TB rather than 2 GB??

The rule of thumb is to put Windows on the fastest drive. What is the size of the smaller drive and is it 7200 rpm?

Storage seems like the best use of a 5400 rpm drive to me.
