Windows 7: Noobish Question about Hardware Parts

Don't worry much about SSD right now....it's way too much money for way too little size. Get a fast 7,200 RPM SATA drive (like a 640GB WD Caviar Black, or Samsung 1TB spinpoint) and you will be just fine. For average computer user, the SSD's look great in benchmarks, but in overall performance across the board for average computer tasks...it's just not there or enough of a WOW factor to offset cost.

Yeah, I'm not someone who has the need for huge amounts of storage space but I still couldn't justify the current cost/GB of SSD. I reckon that 640GB WD Caviar Black would be plenty for my needs.

I know everyone has their own preferences, but I have to say, being given a few brand and model names to look at by someone with experience, certainly does help when faced with the huge range of choices to be made with your first build, thanks.

I agree, but whats the price diff btwn 640Mb and 1Tb? you will always fill the available space.

I think price difference is about $30. And while it's not a lot....it all adds up in the end. Trying to stay within an original budget constraint is always my primary goal when i build. Know your budget and stay there. If not, re-evaluate your budget to ensure it's reasonable.
