Thought I would let you in on my Experiences so far. Bought an ASUS EEE 1005HAB today from Best Buy and a 2GIG mem stick.

Installed Windows 7 Retail (RTM) off USB and it found everything easily. Ive not gotten to install the Function Key drivers yet as my wife is using it now but so far on 2 gigs it's just as fast as the default XP was.

Yes the screen is a bit smaller but for what were using it for perfect size, price, and features and the fact that Windows 7 installed and is running so WELL is crazy!

Wonder if I got a 4 gig stick and or used a ReadyBoost USB on this baby! I would prefer the RAM as I hate dongles hanging out the sides.

    SO far Loving it!

Best part is I get my iMac back from the kids they can play all their flash based games Wizard 101, Free Realms, and Nick Jr without stutter.

325.00 for a Windows 7 Portable Computer is Awsome!

I'm convinced everyone is in denial. XP runs CONSIDERABLY faster than 7 on an Atom-based netbook w/ 2GB ram.

I would love for that to not be the case, but it is. It's certainly usable, but a bit like running through mud with rose colored glasses on.

7 is great on modern hardware, but current netbooks aren't that "modern" compared to a core 2 duo laptop, less a beefy desktop.

I beg to differ have a read here.

Windows 7 versus Windows XP on the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA Netbook - Windows 7 on a Netbook - Legit Reviews

The few little speed difference that XP has is a small trade off for windows 7 over xp.

Oh and I also added a 2 gig SD card and setup readyboost and it really helps even more.

Not sure whos got the glasses on.
Are you saying um own tests are wrong? Maybe i need a new stop watch then ;-)
And i totally disagree with the use of the word CONSIDERABLY. That IME, is rubbish. Faster in certain circumstances "maybe" but not by as much as you think and not all the time.
