ASUS Rampage II Extreme sound My roommate received an ASUS Rampage II Extreme motherboard along with a Core i7 from NCIX today. All went well except he has no sound. I noticed the board was supposed to come with a SupremeFX sound card, but it didn't. Does this board have any sort of onboard audio? Everything I've checked doesn't give me a straight answer. If this is in the wrong section, mods can you please move it? Thanks.

That SupremeFX "sound card" is the onboard sound. It isn't a true sound card and nothing more than a riser card containing the onboard sound.
I would start with contacting where the board came from and see if they still have the card. failing that you can order one from Asus for $45.00, Supreme FX X-Fi
Personally if you can't get it from where the board came from I would go with an actual sound card. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS Win 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Phenom II x4 955 @ 4 GHz. According to the reviews I read the board was supposed to come with a sound card for the pcie x1 slot. But from the reviews, you would be better off buying your own. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Brew - Always under construction OS Windows 7 X64 Professional/Windows 8 CPU intel i7-2600K Motherboard Asus P8Z68 V-Pro/GEN 3 Memory 8GB G.Skill Sniper DDR3-2133 (2X4GB) Graphics Card EVGA 670 2GB Sound Card Asus Xonar Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" LCD VW246H Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Logitech G500/Logitech Wireless PSU CORSAIR HX850W Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Corsair H100 w/ 4 noctua fans in push/pull. LOL. I am sorry to hear that. Maybe the vendor kept it, but the Supreme FX, does come with the Rampage II Extreme. I know cos mine came with one. And to be honest it doesn't sound that bad. Although, I may buy a real sound sound card in the future, probably ASUS Xonar.
