Built-in card reader problem

Every time I plug a CF card into my internal card reader, Windows says:-
"You need to format the disk in drive G: before you can use it"

I have several CF card, and it's the same with all of them. sd cards work fine.

I've gone into Device Manager to re-install the device driver, but it tells me it's up-to-date. I've uninstalled the card reader and Windows successfully re-install it, still same problem.

Also, i've just noticed this in the event log:-
'The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk3\DR9', at exactly the time I inserted the card.

Re-booting makes no difference.

It's looking like a fault with the actual card-reader, am I right?

Cheers,
Bernie
