    Scanner issues with Canon MF8030cn

    Hello,

I have recently bought a Canon All-in-one Scanner, Printer and Copier i-SENSYS MF8030Cn, and I am having an issue with it.

It supports two interfaces, USB and Ethernet (network). Over USB, everything works fine, Scanning, Printing, Copying, ect.

But I need the the device on ethernet (network), so I set it up to do so today. When installing the MF drivers for it (printing and scanning), it installs the printer drivers fine, but when it starts to install the scanner drivers, I immediately get the error "Could not install the scanner driver. Try to install again."

I am getting the exact same error on two different laptops, one is 32 bit, the other 64 bit, same error. Help would be appreciated, thanks.

I came across this utility that may help: ScanGear CS
Below are the available downloads. Depending on the file, you may be asked to enter the serialnumber of the product. Please have it ready for your convenience.
I found it on this site: Windows 7 – Canon LiDE 35 installation fix | Bull's Rambles

It is an old utility, and for a lide-35, but it is compatible with win-64bit, and it just might work.

This utility doesn't need a driver for the scanner?

EDIT: The link you gave me for the download says that the utility is for the CanoScan LiDE 60 only so that means it would be incompatible with my all-in-one...

I relied on the installer to ask for a compatible ScanGear CS for your MF8030cn

I would not think so, I took it as a utility that would massage the win7 files that recognize scanner files, and allow a smother integration.

Again, I relied on the installer to ask for a compatible ScanGear CS

Are you up to date with all win7 updates? There were ones that corrected inconsistencies with hardware.

I found this canon page for MF8030cn drivers are they newer/older? i-SENSYS MF8030Cn

The closest I found that was compatible with win7: Canon imageCLASS MF8050Cn Color All-in-One Printer

Are you following precisely the instructions to install the Scanner drivers? You know how picky it is to install any type of printer/AIO/MF.

Try installing the free Vuescan program from VueScan 9 Scanning Software for Windows 7, Mac OS X (Snow Leopard) and Linux and see if that helps.

Well why would the installer just randomly fail?

I tried installing using the .inf in Scanners and Camera's but it wouldn't detect anything...
