Lag / Windows / Just more Lag

    Hi,

Recently I did a total system restore.

I had assumed I had a RAID setup before as I never really understood why I had 3 HDD's in my setup, but they were never seen as 3 seperate HDD's

So what I had done is viewed some video on youtube on how to setup a RAID array 0 on a gigabyte motherboard, and went to the gigabyte website to download the drivers I would need to use to load it up in a new windows installation.

I would assume RAID will speed up my computer reading and writing slightly.

However my computer has just seem to freeze/lag suddenly.

I know for a fact if I wanted to use the computer after a short while it will just freeze, or the applications will and the mouse is free to move around. It does this so much that the computer is unusable.

Some things I have noticed, is that the windows installation did take slightly longer than usual. Where it should take me 20 mins, even quicker on my machine specs, but it took roughly an hour.

I have a feeling that it could be my sound card also, as my system does not play sounds through the usual ports, I have to use the motherboard ports now. I will connect and disconnect with windows experience to see if there is any noticable differences.

I am about to run memtest86. - Results find nothing wrong currently.

What HDD, diagnostic tools are there out there?

It certainly isn't a virus problem as I have run Avast on the machine.

I'm about to cry, do you guys have any suggestions?

    Welcome
    Hard drive test
Test Hard Drive HD Diagnostic or this test www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

In addition to your AV download and scan with malwarebytes. Run a scan once a week.

Avast is not enough, use Malwarebytes and download and have Win Patrol

So weird, but the defrag seems to have made a difference

NOt wierd thats what defrag is for. It puts the pieces back where they belong. It takes time to search for the right order. In the future, if not done already, do a chkdsk, before the defrag.
