    Mouse not clicking when alphanumeric key is held


    Hello,

    I've been having a problem where my mice (I've tried several) don't click (left or right) when I'm holding an alphanumeric key down. For example, I'm playing a video game where I need to move (w,a,s,d) and click at the same time, but am unable to.

    I am able to click while holding down shift or click.
    I didn't have this problem Windows XP so I'm thinking it's windows 7 based issue...

    Has anybody experience this problem and knows how to fix it?

    Also, how would I go about updating the mouse drivers?
    I downloaded a zip file from dynex for my DX-WMSE (model) mouse.

    Welcome to Seven Forums.
    Has this always happened with Win7 and in all games you play or specific ones only? You probably don't need a mouse driver since Windows has one. Only special functions, if needed are enabled with a mouse specific driver, ie, turn lights/logo off/on, etc. the mouse should function normally.

    That said, go to the Dynex site to see if they have new drivers, unless that is what the zip file is.

    You might want to go to this site and see if Microsoft has given the mouse a compatibility rating.

    I checked out the Windows 7 Compatibility link you sent me and looked up that particular mouse I was referring to. It said it was completely compatible and no changes should be needed, so that's not the problem.

    Right, that's what that zip file was and I agree with you on the special functions part, so I'm kind of at a loss.
    It's almost like the mouse is programmed to not send ( or Win7 is set to ignore the input ) if the alphanumeric keys are pressed.
    Maybe there's a way to change that setting?
    (probably not)

    It's the same for all game I've played on Win7
    Portal 1 & 2, Team Fortress 2, ARES... (luckily you can play ARES with a windows compatible xbox 360 controller, but not all games have that compatibility...

    The compaibility list means that Win7 has a driver already then. Uninstall or install the mouseware, whichever you don't have now. If you are used to
    pressing the key first then click, try clicking, then hitting the key.

    Have you tried different ports to connect the mouses? If it's a PS2 mouse, obtain a PS2/USB adapter and try USB.

    Beyond this, I'm sorry I have no ideas.
