My only observations are that with the 2405s, you will not be overclocking and the stock heatsink and fan will be sufficient and you really don't need the 212. I am not familar with the PSU brand. Yes it
is cheap, but it is the heart of your system and that is one item you do not want to skimp on. I always recommend Corsair, Antec and Seasonic PSUs. They are more expensive, but are well worth the added expense. If the PSU goes out it can take the motherboard and other components with it.
I agree. I also recommend Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, and Thermaltake Power Supplies. Your temperatures will really climb if you later decide to OC with stock cooling, and in my experience, however, stock intel cooling is poo.

sweetness!! This is exquisitely helpful, mates!

What's wrong with apex?? PSU is something I have VERY little familiarity with (as one only really encoutners it building own rig) and this is the first (although much pondered for past year and learned about off and on past few decades!).

    I don't understand

if you later decide to OC with stock cooling, and in my experience, however, stock intel cooling is poo.[
exactly. 2405s really overheats is the implication??

how's overclocking on the AMD ???

Why are those PSU brands more reliable. I guess I just liked the brandname "apex' which a silly reason for selecting component lol.

But I have never overclocked but it does interest me greatly.

Sounds like you're saying overclockign 2405s is challenging (or requires tons of cooling)

Or are you saying that hte built in intel fan with 2405s is lame

    "stock intel cooling" ???

    How's the
    AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor

    for cooling and overclocking?

    what is needed for overclocking?

Anyways thanks a ton for helping this project take off/acquire critical mass/get started/get initiated/making it so/ etc haha!!!

I think the first piece I will order will be the case.

Newegg.com - Rosewill FUTURE Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, come with Four Fans-2x Front Blue LED 120mm Fan,1x Top 120mm Fan,1x Rear 120mm Fan,Support up to 7 Fans

    smashing reviews on newegg.
micro atx and atx compatible (not that I'd be swapping mobos lol).
    great front-side
    4-fans

    seems awesome.

clarifying fan stuff. if I went with hyper 212 that would be the cpu fan??? And then the four other fans built into the Rosewill would cool what (just all components).

    IMPORTANT QUESTION
power supply is mounted in bottom of Rosewill case. Is that okay (I guess so, heat rising, prob better bottom than top mounted).

I won't be ordering all these parts simul. So getting one, I think would be ideal.

    Would I need graphics card?
will either gpu (the 2405s integrated or the GIGABYTE GV-N440D3-1GI GeForce GT 440 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card)

be ideal for multiple monitors (like 2 19"s and a 24" ports arent' a problem because can use USB convertors)

    Monitor Question.
If I have a DVI monitor and I use a DVI-to-VGA convertor and then connect it to a VGA port, does that DVI monitor lose quality (Because of vga port)?? seems like it would I guess hhmm bollocks.

    Anyways thanks again!

dang a lot of questions. No need to answer them.

the PSU insight is invalauble but what's wrong with

    Newegg.com - APEX AL-D500EXP 500W ATX12V Power Supply

yes it's very inexpensive but seems to have good reviews.

Are you suggesting diff brand and/or higher wattage?

honestly that apex one still looks decent

    this 600W corsair is $70

    Newegg.com - CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 V2 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

I don't understand why this one

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Gaming Series GS600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply

with same wattage is $30 more.

PSU is prob the component I know least about and should learn more.

I think the case is def a go, though!

I probably can't answer all your questions but... AMD and Intel stock coolers are both not real good. However, if you do not overclock they will do OK.
The Phenom CPU you selected is a good CPU and can be overclocked. However, (personal opinion) they cannot compete performance wise with the new Intel CPU's, But are not very overclockable other than the 2500K or the 2600K. The K versions are very much overclockable and will overclock much more that the phenom you selected. But, to overclock with the K version chips you will need a P67 or Z68 socket 1155 motherboard.

As far as on board graphics. With the AMD it will depend on which motherboard you select. An FX motherboard requires a graphics card and a GX motherboard will have on board graphics (rule of thumb). Intel- the P67 board requires a graphics card. Z68 can use either on board or a dedicated Graphics card.

Top mounted or bottom mounted is pretty much a personal decision. I prefer bottom mounted PSU's much for the reason you mentioned. Others prefer top mounted. They both have their pros and cons. Either will work just fine.

I have a Rosewill Challanger case. It is a good case and will serve it's purpose.

I hope these answered at least some of your questions. As far as the PSU, quality is the most important thing. A PSU can go out and take your motherboard and other components with it. I use several PSU calculators and choose a PSU twice the amount the calculator says. This gives room to upgrade and also does not strain the PSU thus making it run cooler and last longer. My rule of thumb is I want a PSU that will be running at about60% of it's max. As with any other component, you can get cheap or quality. They are rarely the same. I still recommend Corsair, Antec, and Seasonic. I have never used Thermaltake but have heard good things about them. I do not consider Apex as a quality PSU.Again, my personal opinion.

In the size range and brand of PSU you selected I would prefer the CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 650W

Green (enviro-friendly) same wattage . good reviews.

Can anyone provide electrical details of why this one is normally twice the price of the apex one I had before? This one looks quality.

    ---

Feel a lot better getting this one. This most likely (because of the sale) will be first component I get! sweet!

This makes the apex one look considerably shabby (after reading more about the antec psu).

don't worry about the stock intel cooler, there is nothing wrong with them untill you want to overclock, at that point the investment costs into the system go up anyway for an overall cooling solution.

i'm slightly concerned by your hdd choice, 2 tb 5900rpm is going to have slower access times than any 7200 rpm model, it's not something i would reccomend as a system drive, storage only.

best of luck with what ever you decide.
