    Old Laptop HDD now in External but need help :)


    Hi all...

    I have an old laptop that wouldn't charge anymore but it still worked fine until the battery went flat... it was runing XP since I was about to get rid of the laptop anyway I didn't bother getting it fixed etc...

    Now I've gone and gotten a external case for the hdd and have put it in and plugged it into my desktop but it doesn't show up... Is this because it has an operating system on the ext HDD or am i just missing something???

    I have gone into control panel device manager and it does show up in the usb controllers some times its there an says its fine other times its there and says it cannot start... I just want to copy some files from it and then wipe it completely and keep it as a back up any help is muchly appreciated :)
