    Need some laptop suggestions

I'm looking into a laptop for my mom. It needs to connect to a TV via HDMI and stream Netflix effectively. It doesn't need to do any gaming, and the hard disk space is almost a non-factor. She may take it to the beach a couple times per year, but other than that it won't travel further than the living room.

She is most comfortable with Macs, but I've told her that Win7 is very user friendly once you get used to it. Does anyone have a smokin' hot deal that might help me convince her on the basis of cost. Most the macs I looked at seemed overpriced, but unless I can give her a strong alternative, she may just default to what she's comfortable with.

Help me convert a user, and the Windows Gods will be forever grateful.

See if something along these lines is what you are looking for. It is a Samsung RF711. I've never used one but was looking myself.

I just bought a Samsung RV511, 15.6", LED....$550 at Bestbuy. Best bang for the buck at the time I bought it.

For your mom's requirements any laptop at around $500 or less will do. I would search in the Sunday ads of the big electronics shops. Toshiba is one of the better and popular makes. Asus is said to be pretty good too and Samsung is a late entry in the market but had good reviews.

I would stay away from anything Acer (including unfortuanrely Gateway now) and HP laptops are not so great either - although I like their desktops. Dell is not so hot either.

Here is another option. Check daily as the offerings change all the time: Laptop Deals - Deals2buy.com
