    Intel Skulltrail

I have lots of questions! :)

    1. How many GB of RAM does Intel Skulltrail support?
    2. Does Intel skulltrail support AMD Radeon™ HD 6990 Graphics?
    3. Does Intel Skulltrail support Intel core i7-990x Extreme edition? If not, is Core 2 Extreme QX9775 the best processor it can have?
    4. Would Intel Skulltrail run faster with two Core 2 Extreme QX9775 processors than a computer runnning one Intel core i7-990x Extreme edition processor?

    Thank You!

    Hi CrystalizeD,

    To answer your questions:

    1. 16GB
    2. As far as I know, it does support it.
    3. Unfortunately, no. Intel Skulltrail has an LGA771 socket while the i7-990x has an LGA1366 socket.
    4. In my opinion, yes. An Intel Skulltrail system was overclocked to 5.0Ghz at the Intel Developer Forum. On top of that, Tom's Hardware reported that it had been overclocked to 6.006Ghz. The i7 gets nowhere near as high. Then again, you need some really good cooling to get that high. Either way, with decent water cooling, you could probably OC to 4.5Ghz+.

    Well, that's it then.

    Hope this helps,
    Jaidyn

if your looking for a dual cpu build, check out the EVGA SR-2. Its effectivly an updated version of the Skulltrail.

This is a bit redundant, but it's straight from the Intel datasheet:

    Intel® Desktop Board D5400XS

Note that the board requires FB (buffered) memory, not the standard stuff.

yeah, also if i remember the drivers for the skulltrail were a bit iffy? If your still considering a skulltrail a single cpu i7 build would outpreform a skulltrail in almost every way and cost about 1/3 of the price
