    Need Help With Power Supply

Right now I am getting ready to buy a HIS IceQ H567Q1GD Radeon HD 5670 and I need help getting a decent power supply for it. I was thinking about getting a CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 because that's all I can really afford for this rig right now. Is this a good power supply that can last me at least a good year until I can get enough money to get a better one? If not any suggestions of a PSU under $50.00 would be nice. Thanks :)

That card recommends a minimum 400 watt power supply. The 430 makes it but you are cutting it close.

I believe you should have some "overhead" for a power supply to avoid any issues. Usually 50% more than needed. Power supplies lose output as they get older and you might add extra devices in the future.

You can use a power supply load calculator, available on most manufacturer's web sites (like Antec) to determine your approximate maximum usage. If the 430 meets the limit and it is all you can afford than it is a small risk.

But a 600 watt or better would be a safer solution.

If you can swing the extra 10-15 dollars, I would recommend a basiq 550 or a corsair 500, they are nice power supplies and will give you room to work with.

    CX 430 Review

Here is a great review on this power supply.

Corsair CX430 Power Supply Review | Hardware Secrets

The CX 430's they are selling now are the x2 version. they also have a review of it.

I have been using the original since last Christmas with a 5770 and an Athlon x2 5600+ and have been very happy with it. (The CPU bottlenecks this card. Upgrading to new MB and x4 965)
