    usb 3.0 card question

Hello, I'm thinking of adding a usb 3.0 card because I'm getting a external HD thats 3.0 capable.

Looked at New Egg and it seems like the only difference is the price. $25 to $75
Found this one while I was looking for some cables at Monoprice. For only $12.31 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 2 Ports USB 3.0 PCI-Express (PCI-e) Controller Card w/ Molex 4pin Power - NEC Chipset | USB 3.0 PCI Cards Any good?

Any advice on what to look for or what to stay away from?

    Thanks.

It should be fine. Uses the NEC chip. Newer Motherboads may have USB 3.0 in their chipsets but if not they use the NEC chip and probably all add on cards use the NEC chip.

That one should work, but NEC was bought out by renasys (sp), which should not create a problem. I put this card in a Dell computer an it works great. It also usus an NEC chip.

Yeah, I have the same card in one machine, and my motherboard has it built in with the same NEC/Renesas chipset...

When you get it, just go to stationdrivers and update the firmware and drivers to the latest... :

Works like a charm, just make sure any cables you attach to it are 3.0 cables.. there is a difference
