What type of connection to the mobo are the drives using? What are the maximum connections on the mobo for your drives? Assuming that these are connected using sata, there could be a set limit and to get by this you must turn on AHCI mode for the mobo to recognize the rest of the drives. This would require a reinstall of the OS and installing the AHCI driver from with in the BIOS.

What does "4 connections 2 on each side" describe?

When you boot the computer, enter the BIOS set up and see if both drives are listed and post back.

What model drives and mobo?

Many times you will have to enable sata connectors in the bios. I suspect that you've plugged the drive into an un-enabled sata connector that just needs to be turned on........the story of my life ! lol

You still haven't said if they are eSATA or usb 2.0 or USB 3.0. also, fill out your system specs. If you are saying 2 on each side, it seems you are talking about a laptop. Not many laptops have 2 eSATA connections. And for the Seagates to work they need to be USB/eSATA combo drives.
