Windows 7: Boot and System Partition Merge

Boot and System Partition Merge

First of all I know I'll get some answers saying use Partition Magic as I've seen them all over the web, I've tried it and I get errors when I try to launch it.

I have a 500 GB hard drive that has been partitioned into 60GB and 410 GB.

OS D: - System
Local Disk C: - Boot

Because the D drive is only 60 GB, I aren't going to use it. It's just going to be sat there, so I thought I might as well use it and expand it into the C drive so that it will be used. But then I realised that the D drive was the system drive. I've seen a fix for if the D drive is the boot drive, I even tried it before realising the problem was very near to mine but different.

Does anybody have any ideas as to how I could merge these too drives, somehow designate the C drive the new system drive whilst causing minimum disruption. I've just recently had to reinstall Windows twice. First time I re-installed all of my programs and then got an error after following some dodgy instructions off of the net. (Don't believe everything you read I know).

Not "Partition Magic"... you want to download and install and use "Partition Wizard".

And don't forget to also download and burn the ISO file for standalone boot CD version of Partition Wizard. This should be used when you're manipulating your C-partition, which cannot be done while Windows is up and running. Same exact functionality as the version running under Windows, but standalone boot (Linux) version with no limitations.

Partition Magic was an old product, ultimately sold by Symantec as the last vendor of record. But they let the product die and no longer sell or support it.

Partition Wizard is "current", and will do what you want to do.
