    Hi Guys,

I have the same problem with the unallocated hard drive as welsh. Just to confirm the method as Welsh, Follow exactly in Option 4 in this link? I won't lose any data?
Convert a Dynamic Disk to a Basic Disk

Where the data backup? I'm bit confuse with basic and dynamic disc. Currently my local hard drive is full. My hdd is about 431G/500G. and my laptop does not detect my hdd.

    Hope you can help.
    Thanks.

Hello Cherlynn, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since your HDD is already unallocated space, you would just need to start at step 7 in OPTION FOUR of that tutorial. As long as nothing goes wrong or a mistake is made, it should restore the HDD without loss of data. :)

Hi Brink. THanks. Currently I'm trying to do the quick scan. It takes several hours, and right now i'm still at 2% after scanning for 9 hours. My HDD is 465GB , is it normal to take that long hours to scan?

    Thanks.

    Hi Brink,

I had finished scanning. However, Step 14 in that link does not apply to me. There is not operation pending in the left panel. it shows 0 operation pending instead. I can't proceed. Do you have any idea?

    Thanks.

    Cherlynn,

Hmm, that doesn't sound good. How did the drive become unallocated? Did you just use "Delete" on it, or did you do something more drastic like running the "Clean" command with "Diskpart" on it?

You might give the free program EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition a try to see if it may be able to recover the unallocated drive if it was only deleted. The link below can help show you how to use the program to hopefully recover the drive.

Free Partition Recovery Wizard - recover deleted, lost partitions with EaseUS Partition Master.

    Unallocated

    Hi Brink,

I tried several times, still unable to scan allocated any missing drive. I am currently trying Power recovery Data tool.

Is there any another resolution? Getting frustrated...

    THanks!

If that doesn't work, then is looks like you may have lost the data on the HDD.

    Hello Ladies and Gents,

I am back again, with another request and I am hoping you can save the day (willing to pay or donate). It is the very same HDD i had the problem with allocating previously and now it seems to have just packed in, so it would seem! I have loaded up the PC yesterday morning and its showing my HDD is there with the 2 partitions, but 1 is show as "The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable"

Is it really as bad as it sounds - is there any chance i will be able to get the work files off there?
