    Synaptics driver issues Sony VGN-FZ11E

    Hi everybody,

I am running a Sony VGN-FZ11E Laptop, installed Windows 7 32bit, found all the drivers needed except for the one for my touch pad. I have tried Synaptics drivers but after installation my keyboard crashes an wouldn't allow any typing. Could anyone help me please.

    Thank you

are you sure the model number ends in E?
I can't seem to find any reference to it on sony's site.
    They only allow for
    L,M,S,Z

I can find reviews for the E model just nothing on sony's site about it.
Anyhow see what the detect my model thing turns up on you.
Sony eSupport - dash™ Personal Internet Viewer - Select Your Model

Anyhow that's where I would be looking for the updated driver for that one.
Sounds like the generic synaptics one isn't working with that laptop.

    I found this,
Go to C:\Program Files\Sony\Setting Utility Series and run VCCPointingDevice.exe. Untick the “Enable” checkbox and voila – this would disable the touchpad. You could create a shortcut to the file above for easy access!

To get to the executable without a mouse, press {Windows-Key]-E, then use the tab key and the arrow key to navigate through Windows Explorer. Just highlight the file and click {Enter} to launch it.

To enable the touchpad you need to run the same executable and tick the “Enable” checkbox.

Enable is the last line of the quote.

There are some touch pad drivers on this link - ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/

You may need to install the driver in compatibility mode if it wont install normally:

To install a driver/program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

    Guys,

Thank you for your quick answers and I really appreciate it, still none of the above are working. After installing the driver my keyboard is getting numb, guess I have to live w/o the Synaptics Scribe. Once again thank you.

@ Maguscreed - yes the termination is the letter E. It is a model for SE Europe and Sony Vaio doses not offer any kind of support for this model. Since it was preinstalled with Microsoft Vista a lot of drivers were custom made for this model, such a a shame isn't it, guess I should write them a letter...thanks a lot.

    Regards,
    Vlad
