Did you try formatting as NTFS?

Try both unplugging and plugging in the device as well as shutting down and leaving your computer off for a few minutes. Let it cool down and try again. Can't guarantee it'll work but it's worth a shot. :)

Right Just tried to Switch off and let it work it's way through so to speak. It did not work. BTW I have tried to format it with Ubuntu as well and it said that the MBR is stopping it from being formatted. How do I change the MBR on a Stick?

Maybe. I searched a bit, and a lot of posts came up saying you have to flick a switch on the drive itself.

Like on SD cards? I've never seen such a thing on a flash drive, but it would be great to have.

Yes, exactly like on SD cards. I've never seen the switch myself, but I agree. It would be quite useful.

Have you run the Clean all command in diskpart?

Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

make sure you choose the right drive.
