Printer for W7 that uses generic inks Can any-one recommend a basic printer ( mostly for script and the occasional photo) that will accept generic ink carts and work in Windows 7, I like Canon the best really. | My System Specs |

I believe that most printers will use generic cartridges. But wait until you hear from some of the other members as a lot of them know a lot more than I do. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion g7-1260us Notebook OS Desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 & Notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Memory 8Gig |

I'm not sure what you mean by generic ink cartridges. If you mean refilled, they are available for most but the newest printers using newer ink cartridges. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |

Thanks, I was meaning a basic printer that will use ready made generic carts (not for me to re-fill) I have used these from various suppliers in the past with a Canon Pixma iP4000 and an Epson Photo 750, with very satisfactory results. I now want to replace the Epson with a new basic machine that will use these similar ink carts. The problem seems to be the chips ? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Aspire 5742Z OS Win 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Pentium P6200 Memory 6GB DDR3 Hard Drives 640GB Internet Speed Rubbish |

You do not have to refill cartridges yourself, they are readily available.
