Suppress Plug and Play UI

Is there anything in Windows 7 that will suppress the UI pop-ups when a new device is attached to a computer? There was something like it in XP. See this: Hotfix adds new functionality to suppress Plug and Play-related UI messages in Windows Server 2003 or in Windows XP.

Welcome to Seven Forums. Go to Start/Admin Tools/Services, scroll to Plug and play, double click it then change Start up type to Disabled. do the same with UPnP Device Host.

Thanks for the reply! However, The option to change the Startup type for the Plug and Play properties is grayed out. I am admin and have UAC off. Is there something else I need to be able to do to disable this?

Also, will this disable just the UI popups or will it disable the entire plug and play abilities? I don't want to disable all off plug and play, just the UI popups.

You're welcome! Unfortunanately my method will disable Plug and Play. I don't know why the option is grayed out. It is very odd.
