Has anyone upgraded their PC w USB3.0 card??

Has anyone added a USB3 card to their desktops.
I have a Dell XPS9000 which I would like to add a USB3 card in light of all the new USB3 portable HDD that have appeared on the market.

If you have did the install go well and did the back up speed to an external HDD meet your expectation??
    Thanks for your help

    Hello provlima
Yes I Have used a USB3 PCIe card from MSI, it installed without a problem and the transfer speeds were up to SATA levels I no longer use it as I have USB3 onboard. The speeds are the same though have a look at the two snips

I have a Dell 580s and added a USB 3.0 card. I'm satisfied with the speed. I have not tested it but I can say it is much faster than USB 2.0. I don't use it much anymore as I have built another computer.

    Hi Provlima,
I agree with Pooch, it is worth it, a suitable external HD will work like an SATA 300 internal.
If you have an aged mobo like I do (Asus M2N-SLI), you could have some trouble.
I installed an Asus U3S6 card, hoping to use some SATA 600 in my x8 sli slot, it works under XP, but it conflicts with my second screen under Win 7. Under win 7 I have to disable it (set sli to single card) to be able to use two screens on the gpu. I am still trying to solve that issue.
