You perhaps should have started a new thread for this.
On my laptop (Compaq CD50-105NR), I got the coprocessor warning in Device Manager until I installed the chipset drivers from HP. (nVidia chipset, AMD Athlon CPU.) I never had a problem with the DVD drive, so the chipset drivers may not explain your DVD problem.
Does your DVD drive show up in Device Manager, as working?
I don't know about the battery monitor. I haven't had a problem with that, even though I've been running Windows 7 betas for months (and now am running the released version).
