Windows 7: CdRom errors

Hi guys been having some issues with my Cd Rom failed to burn disks using ConvertXtodvd , Nero vision , AVS Video Converter 3 different programs have failed ive uninstalled it from device manager then restarted i then got a blank disk which was not
Re-writable, i had not used and that was successful when burning , any ideas is it starting to fail on me completley or was it just the Re-writable disks i was using.
