Hello. The best way I think is to check out this site.
Use the Crucial System Scanner software to find out what type of memory is in your computer

It will help you a lot about choosing ram memory. :)

Quite a bit more information about your system is necessary to give a RAM recommendation. If you don't know your specs, download Speccy - System Information - Free Download and copy the information into your system specs for this and future help :)

Instead of scanning your machine you could try the Crucial Memory Advisor Tool. Input your manufacturer, product line, and specific model number and it should tell you what kind of memory is compatible with your machine. Then you can shop around for best prices.

RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, SSD at Crucial.com

No, that image doesn't say how much RAM your PC supports. did you run any of the RAM upgrade tools that are presented?

If your PC can support 4GB and it has 2 RAM slots then a 2GB stick could work. If it supports 2GB with 2 slots, then the max in each slot is 1GB.

Also, download and install CPU-Z, which will identify almost any motherboard on the market today, chipsets, and on-board memory. CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
