Missing Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator

My Computer: HP G60-235DX. Windows 7 64-Bit

I was following another thread on this site but the problem was never resolved. Basically, I have no Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator under system devices in the device manager. This is causing problems with other things as well (im pretty certain the below problems are caused by the missing enumerator.

How can i reinstall it? I've tried to reinstall the chipset from HP but to no avail.

First, try running the system file checker: run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

If it throws up any missing files you'll most likely need to extract them from your Windows DVD.

Second, if that doesn't work, you might want to carry out a repair install of Windows: Repair Install

Windows 7 x64

I can help.

This happened to me in x64 Windows 7 after fresh install of OS. It was working before install though too.
Anyway, I think that the OS turns off the driver for plug and play emul....
Windows did this with mine because the software I installed set the camera setting automatically and made the picture size too big, then it said no camera installed! My camera is a cheap one.
So I right clicked plug and play emulator in device driver, told it to update driver and search automatically for updated driver software...and it did and worked. So that is why I figure it was Windows that turned it off.
And, I was fooling around with the settings in the software...NCH Debut...and reduced the size of the webcam and now the camera works.
