CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World - its free and work flawless for 99% of nowadays drives. Install it and make a screennshot > post it here. From it will be clear if your hdd have some hidden problems causing that strange behavior.

CrystalDiskInfo tool, because I`m still uncertain if your hdd is blue or black. So bear in mind that the link pointing wd software may be for your hdd but if its black series it may be not work.
