HDD Bad Sectors
Hello,
I have a 1 Tb Hitachi HDD as seen in the picture. I was wondering how can i remap the bad sectors into a new partition and then hide it.
I've been said that it doesn't have much to live anymore.

The bad sectors would have to be somewhat contiguos in area for them to be partitioned off, if they're scattered all over the disk it would be useless. You would need to have a bad sector map of the entire hard disk, then partition usable space above and below and test and retest. I'm not sure exactly which tool can do the location mapping reliably, see if the Hitachi hard disk diagnostic tool helps.
But theres no guarantee that the bad sectors will not keep cascading, SMART drives do a decent job of remapping sectors anyway. Also theres no one to one correlation between reallocated sector count and hard disk failure, the reliability of SMART data is also not foolproof.
Suggest you back up your data to external media or a good drive and be prepared to replace this disk.

Well, i had ran the Hitachi DFT a few weeks before but it didn't help me much. It looks like i will have to replace it or at least keep it until it drops dead. :) Until now it has almost 4000h of up-time.

You could also try Seagate SeaTools, it works on many other brands.

I would replace this disk as long as you are still able to get the data off. You can still leave it in the box for "non-essential" data. That way you do not loose much the day it drops dead.
