I would go to the manual or to the Acer website to confirm your PC can accept 4 GB.

After you confirm this, you should be able to go back to Crucial. Instead of letting it "sniff", you can enter your Acer model number directly into the configurator and it will then show you the suitable RAM.

But first confirm 4 GB is OK.

OK will visit acer and confirm 4gb works, happy crucial worked great on littleone's computer we are concerned about.
Computer memory upgrades for Acer Aspire One 722 Netbook from Crucial.com

According to Crucial, the Aspire one 722 has a single DIMM slot. They'll sell you a 4 GB module for it, guaranteed to be compatible.

How well does Win7 Pro run on a netbook? If it's a bit slow, I doubt that upgrading the RAM will help much.

Upon further investigation the Ram is NOT expandable!

From my experience with netbooks, many of them generally have 2 gig maximums on the motherboards. And especially since 32 bit 7 is installed, that suggests it won't take anymore than 3 potentially. And also, netbook processors are usually 32 bit and not 64 bit due to power constraints.

But yes, you should check with the Acer support site to see if anything is documented for your netbooks specs.

    Huh?

According to Crucial, you have a single DIMM slot. It accepts a 4GB DIMM. (You have to remove the current one.)

I think that you should be OK with 2GB of RAM, but if you wish to go to 4, you can do it.

Even Acer website is wrong suggesting RAM upgrade possible for model 722-bz816 while upon closer look at specifications page Windows 7 Pro 32-bit is not addressed while other Windows 7 versions are.
On CNET site customers actually referencing this model point out the RAM for Pro 32-bit maxes at 2gb.
Leading to the question why does my model have Pro installed while leading customers to believe Home Premium runs machine?
The Crucial.com site also failed by guaranteeing 4gb was applicable. Beware.

    What?

Window 7 Starter is limited to 2GB, but all higher 32 bit versions support 4GB.

The Aspire One 722 ships with Home Premium. How did Pro get on the machine?

I have no connection with Crucial, other than having purchased memory from them in the past. (Not recently - my current RAM is from Corsair.) However, I'd be surprised if they had false compatibility information on their web site.

Computer delivered off Amazon under $300 with Pro 32-bit installed and apparently this netbook maxes at 3+ gb RAM.

If you install 4GB, all that you'll see in a a 32 bit desktop version of Windows is around 3GB. That's due to the addressing limits of Windows.

Hardware compatibility is another issue. I think that your netbook is compatible with 4GB. Upgrading might be silly, although I've wasted more than $26 on sillier things.
