Snap - Just fitted my X-25M (2nd Generation) drive today and am using it as the Win 7 systems disk. Absolutely amazing performance

I have moved my page file to my 7200rpm WD hard drive and it seems to have improved my WEI Memory score hugely as well.
I just ordered an X-25M (2nd gen) today. When it comes in, I plan to use it the exact same way you are..including moving that page file over to my WD Caviar Black.
Don't set a password in the BIOS. I just read this the other day.

Well I finally DLed HD tune and installed it. and here is my score for the X-25M.

The dips in performance are interesting. they seem to change somewhat each run. SOme part of the throughput is dependant on what windows decides it wants to do in the background as you are running the test :/

By comparison here is my seagate 1 TB baracuda as well...
My Benches seem to be almost exact as yours...Very goodconsidering i got mine for $111. You have more space tho, but i have all my programs installed and im currently only using 9GB out of 30GB

They look pretty good. I have never ran a "random access" test.

The bandwidth speeds look right. Do you like it compared to normal disks?
    Lovin it.

    Those are great numbers!

I wonder why my CPU usage is not registering. It should be right up with yours but it's -1. That cannot be right.

I saw that as well reading about the drives. I think they fixed that in newer firmwares...and honestly it's something that I would never do on my home desktop PC anyway....but thanks for the heads-up.

At least they stoped shipping them, and let people know that there is a problem with them.

Keep in mind, the problem with the drives was discovered in the 1st week of August and the stories hit around August 6th, 2009. Intel began shipping the drives with the fix again during the 2nd week of August. And they have a fix on their website for anybody with who already had their hands on the drive.

So, these drives are being shipped actively now and the problems have been corrected.

The BIOS password thing was identified and fixed very quickly.

I received my Intel 2nd Gen X-25M on 22nd August and it had the new firmware on it. Intel had the new firmware on their website before that as well.

Very Very few drives can have made it into circulation before the problem was identified and the shipments recalled.

So, don't be afraid - go and buy one now!

Good to hear. i would trust Intel for most purchases. I would have purchased one if the price / performance was there. They make the best drives. I hope it gives you years of enjoyment.

Nice. You've got to love the sheer speed. That drive will STAY that fast too.

    Very nice.
