Windows is in sleep, other devices in the room wake it up...

    The problem:

I shut the computer by putting it to the sleep mode. And then, I switch off the lamp on the table, or the bigger lights in the room by using the switch on the wall, or disconnect some device (which is not a part of the computer) from the wall.

... and the computer wakes up as I use the switches or disconnect something!

Somehow the computer is getting a signal from the power circuit to wake up.

    How to prevent it?

System specs should be in the profile, ask for a more detailed overview.

Hello johnmatrix. Welcome to the Forum.

It sounds like you have "dirty power" in your home. This is caused by either unreliable transmission from the electrical utility's supply lines, or improper wiring inside the walls of your home. Most likely a missing ground, an "open neutral", or arcing.

To address your computer, you should use a UPS (Universal Power Supply) connected between the wall and the computer.

But you should have an electrician check out the wiring in your home. Those symptoms are not normal and could be dangerous.

    Thanks! :)

At least I can hope that the computer isn't the source of the problem. I've actually experienced such problems only in my last campus building and the in the one I currently reside in. At home there is no such problem.

But I have an UPS, so I'll connect it and see if it solves the thing.
