Hello highshootown and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you could post back with more details about your system specifications we may be able to give better information. Are you on a laptop, desktop? Wired or wireless? Etc. Does it happen at log in or when using a specific program like Notepad or Office or all the time? Sometimes dirt in a keyboard can cause some strange behavior. Or perhaps an autocomplete problem.

If you have a cable going from your laptop to a modem or telephone jack you have a wired system. If no cables (other than perhaps a power cord) then it's probably wireless. I wouldn't suggest trying to pop off any letters. They can be easily broken or cannot be reinstalled. It's best to use a can of compressed air to blow dirt out from a keyboard using short, quick bursts. You could also try plugging a standard keyboard into one of the USB ports and see if the problem is fixed.

[EDIT - Just saw that your problem has been fixed, highshootown, so I was going to delete my post --- but I think I'll leave it here for any other members who might be having a similar problem. ]

If this problem happens in your MS Office docs, something might have inadvertently changed your "Auto Correct" or your "Math Auto Correct" settings. To check to see if either is the problem, you can try the following:

From any Word page, click the Office logo in the upper-left corner, then, at the bottom of the screen, Word Options.
Select: the Proofing tab.
Select: AutoCorrect Options. When the window opens, in the AutoCorrect section, go down to “Replace text as you type.” First, scroll down to the letter 'e' in the 'Replace' column and see if 'EG1' is displayed in the corresponding 'With' column. If it is, then just put 'e' in the 'With' column and click the Add button near the bottom of the window. (Or you can delete the EG1 using the method below, and create a new "Shortcut" for the letter 'e').

If 'EG1' is NOT there, you can create a new "Shortcut" for the letter 'e' by typing e in both the 'Replace' column and the 'With' column in the appropriate boxes at the top of the alphabet list.

Then, any time you type the letter 'e' -- once you press the space bar or the Enter key, you should just get just the letter e. Click: the Add button near the bottom of the window. Click: OK to close the AutoCorrect window then close Word Options.

Once you're through, you can go through the same process with your Math Auto Correct section because it's unlikely, (but possible), that the 'EG1' replacement for 'e' could be there.
