SSD space is disappearing. Troublshooted almost everything already.

And this thread is the reason that I no longer fool around with any pirated software. You cannot trust it, especially the hacked and preactivated copies of the OS. You never know what was done behind the scenes and you simply cannot trust it.

All of my software is either "free" or paid for legitimately.

We started off trying to solve a mystery, in good faith. We ended up with a lesson on why not to pirate software. An interesting turn, but unexpected at the onset. A Guy

The time of many wasted trying to fix a problem created with pirate software that we were not aware of does bother me a lot.

Also bothers me. I sit here thinking what I could have done to have discovered the source of the problem easily. I would get massive resistance from people if I, at the start, asked them to run the Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper since that is a task which can easily take half of a day.

I had this situation occur to me at one time... Eraser at the time was creating jiberish folders full of nothing on my root drive.... i had it set to do schedule cleaning and somehow it left these weird massive files and folders behind....
I used free Norton commander, being certain that i initiated the program (free Norton Commander) as an administrator to delete all the garbage files and folders, uninstalled the Eraser program and re-installed it without the schedule cleanings and have not had the issue arise again.... I now frequently look for bogus files and folders to make certain my drive is clean.....

    Good Luck

    Check C:\Windows\Temp!

I just wanted to post an anecdotal comment about a similar issue. In fact, I found this thread when searching for why my 120GB SSD was showing around 60GB used and 20GB free.

After reading through this thread, I had the "duh" moment that I hadn't been running WinDirStat as administrator. Sure enough, my C:\Windows\Temp folder contained over 17,000 files, all pretty small in size, but that added up to around 40GB. These files were only visible to WinDirStat after running it as administrator.

Hopefully this note will help someone else!

Welcome to Seven Forums costaspan. This is an old thread started by a software pirate. It is always best to start a new thread. But, have a look and see if Tracing is your problem.

With Kaspersky PURE 2.0 installed on my computer I have found the folder Kaspersky Lab with size of some gigabytes. Why is it so large?
