Yes. But don't misunderstand, there is nothing wrong with that lens, the problem is that the lens that came installed inside of the camera is wrong, therefore the retainer plate that holds it is also wrong.

If all else that's related to spending fails, I'd honestly sit on the back of my car with a baseball bat... or a knife... or a gun... depending on your creativity. :)

I appreciate the sentiment, but that is not really possible for me to do, since I'm getting along in years, and am disabled. However, I did move the vehicle to a parking spot that is visible through my balcony door, so that all that I have to do is to turn my head to see it. But even if I did see someone breaking into it, by the time that I got to the car...assuming it was still there, the thieves would probably be gone, and all that would be left is my own eye witness testimony, and considering my eyesight, at the distance involved, I doubt that I could make a positive identification, unless the thief is the man that I saw, when I went to the suspect's apartment and spoke with his wife after the last theft. However, the neighbor that mentioned them hanging around, said that there was a lot of people coming and going from that apartment.

I found it curious that after I mentioned to her that the thief had apparent started to write "clean me" with his finger in the dust on the tailgate window, that a couple of days later, that someone had smeared the dust on that glass, so that the writing was no longer visible. At least, the vehicle's current location is not directly in sight is the suspect's apartment, but unfortunately, my other car is, and can't be moved easily.

What I need is a really mean junkyard dog, that I could put inside of the vehicle(s), but then I would probably be charged with animal cruelty.

What you really need is some proper support from the Apartment Complex Management, It's obvious from your posts here that there is a problem with security for the area and this should be managed by the company who are making money from you and your neighbours.

If the management is ignoring your complaints I would consider trying to bring the matter to the attention of the local press.

"Bad Publicity", or even the potential for this, is one of the best motivators for any business to make changes.

I realise that this action could cause problems with the management and may not be the best way, for your circumstances, but you should not be made to suffer the stress you are obviously under.

I did attempt to point that out to the management, but it fell on deaf ears. However, I did get some support from them, in that they did trim a couple of limbs from the tree to clear the view for a security camera, but that doesn't do any good without a security camera. I also suspect that the management is going to give the suspect some problems, not because of the thefts, but because of having unauthorized tenants living in his apartment.

As far as the press goes, that is just not something that I want to do.

I was so close to ordering one of these cameras until I started reading the forums. Apparently you have to solder (weld their term) a new resistor in place to raise the audio and switch the leads on the microphone to make that part work. A real do it yourself project for a $100 camera??

You must be referring to some other model than the one that I have, because as far as I know, it has no audio capability. For me, that is not important, because the audio range for the cameras that I read about this feature on, were too limited to be any use to me. Now if one had a parabolic microphone that could hear normal conversation 100 feet or more away, then that would be great.

Depending on your budget to identify faces at 75ft at night and survive your humidity i'd be looking at something like this!

Of course you would have to find one in your neck of the woods....

That is going in the right direction, but falls short. First, because it is not wireless, second because it only has a maximum of 9mm on viewing angle, and lastly because it probably would be difficult to get it shipped to the USA. The last two problems could probably be overcome, but not the first.
