New 14R 500GB storage partitioning scheme (random sharing)!

Have been triple-booting off a macbook 320GB that I loathe (clunky, over-priced, I dislike apple). just got magnificent replacement laptop of which I am really stoked.

When I get 1TB external I did a huge forum post on partitioning scheme that involved truecrypting, various logical and extended partitions for some. Learned a ton, blogged, it and invaluable self-learning.

Naturally, I have been joyfully going over dozens of permutatiosn of partitioning schemes and am just sharing a few wondered if people had any ideas. Thanks!

I think I've got a great setup and good idea from improvements of the 320. The 320 basically had
20 gb os (couldn't believe fit windows on 18gb but I did (with user data relocated to other partition and it works)
160 nonappgames and games and other stuff
105 db
10 downloads (useless always full and too small)
10 something else.

so the new scheme is a massive improvement. Awesome!

The biggest (and complex thing I am factoring in here) is the fully scheme for ALL data. I MUST know where the main files are (mostly on external 1TB at present) and where the backups are and then mathematiclaly backup on regular basis. But i'm building rig which will have 2TB internal. if that seems stable, most the main stuff will be on that and then the external will be backup basically. So yeah if I had all storage together (rig have to wait to afford parts) could decide what precisely woudl use this 500GB for and that would be a clearer partitioning. I have done away with all cd/dvd so all installers are images (yeay!) except a few system discs. Those installers, extvm, extam, intvm need to be better backedup. I ahve an external 1tb for that which is exquisitely marvelous but need more double-backup system.

things are okay. I have 10s of thousands of documents nad image_photo files from projects that are all backed up on server.

Things are good with backups just want to hvae double backups and I could decide how I would use computers and their respective hard drives with all them present (or assembled, or with the rig, existing, hahah)!

just wanted to reiterate, unlike my first post with the external hard drive, I have good scope of how want to partition and am not really seeking advice just sharing and seeing if someone has possible good ideas cheers.
