Installed Win7-Ultx64 OS on SSD but HDD not showing up

Hey guys im very new to desktop building and new to basically having two hard drives and cant figure out what the problem might be.

Here is what are my system spec

Asus Sabertooth p67 Mobo
Intel i7-2600k
Patriot G2 - 2x4gb 1600mhz ddr3 ram
Antec case
Kingston 64gb V+ SSD SNVP325-S2/64GB( to boot OS)
Samsung 1TB 7200RPM HDD (basically i want this as secondary to install files/programs etc)

First thing i did was install my OS on my SSD and then connected my HDD. I checked and saw that, in BIOS, my SATA was in ACHI.

In boot up screen, it first shows "NO hard drive detected" and later it says that my HDD and SSD are recognized.

Once fully in windows default screen. When i go to my computer i only see my SSD and not HDD.

I tried reading what i needed to do but couldn't find the correct problem.

If anyone could link me or help me here that be great..

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
  • Click on the start button and type in the search box Computer Management;
  • Select from the list and click to start
  • Under Storage in the left hand pane, click Disk Management;
  • You should see your SSD and HDD in the top centre window, select your HDD and in the bottom center window, it should be selected;
  • If this is a new drive, the disk will be labelled Not Initialised;
  • In that case, you will need to Initialize Disk and assign a drive letter. Right click and select Initialise Disk;
  • The drive will now appear within Windows Explorer and My Computer.
Let us know how you get on?

i'll try that when i get home in a couple of hours, both SSD and HDD are new drives, i did a clean isntall of the OS on the SSD so im not sure if i needed to partition it, etc to make it go faster and not lose memory.

You did partition your SSD, or else you wouldn't have gotten Windows 7 installed and running. Given this, my guess is, you never went into Disk Management and formatted the 1 TB drive. Once you do, you'll be able to do so and assign it a drive letter to make it accessible.
